January CCW Meeting Minutes from President Kat Lopez
First off, I wanted to welcome our two newest members, Barbara Silkstone and Jean Macaluso, who attended our first CCW Chapter meeting of 2018 a week ago. I wanted to share with the group the updates and plans we have for the chapter. Below are the items discussed at our meeting.
o The Chapter became incorporated in October and our official chapter name is Citrus Crime Writers, Inc. (Tony)
o We have obtained an EIN via the IRS to obtain a chapter bank account (Kat)
o Establishing a chapter back account Friday, Feb. 2 (Tony, Kat)
o Start collecting membership dues for the chapter – email will announce when we will start collecting the $10 chapter dues
o Add a PayPal button to WordPress chapter page for dues collection (Lucille)
o Create a map of membership showing where our members are located across central Florida (Kat)
o Aim to boost membership to chapter and attendance at meetings
o Arrange “field trips” or visits for chapter membership
o Book special speakers for upcoming meetings
Committee Creation – will be developing committees focused on:
o Membership Committee – to manage chapter items, membership drives, ensure members are current in dues
o Events Committee – track and organize meeting events, inform chapter of community events
o Meeting Committee – coordinate chapter meeting locations, coordinate speakers for meetings, assist with monthly topics
o Communication Committee – handles the web pages, generates the chapter newsletter, sends out communications to chapter
I will also be forwarding some communications from the national organization that may impact the chapter. One such email is for the Speaker Bureau. This application process allows for chapters to apply for speakers for their meetings. Within the email there is a link listing available speakers. I would like for us to apply for the next round of selections. They are done a year in advance, but would still like to get something established if possible for the chapter.
Now that we formally have all the paperwork and set dressings if you will accomplished for the chapter, we are hoping to focus on the business of being a fully-fledged chapter. Anyone interested in assisting with the noted committees, please let us know and we will get you with the other interested chapter members. We are looking at booking other locations at various locations to suit our membership for our monthly meetings. We are hoping to increase the attendance for our meetings and books events as well in the coming year. With that said, we would like to know what topics you would find interesting for our meetings. Please forward topics you would like us to focus on for future meetings. I look forward to your emails and seeing you at the next meeting, scheduled for February 18.
